Benin: Arrival of the remains of host Sonia Annick Agbantou
Having passed away in Dijon, France, on Monday, June 23, 2025 at the age of 39, the Beninese broadcaster Sonia Annick Agbantou was repatriated to Benin on the night of Thursday, July 17. Her remains were received at the Cardinal Bernardin Gantin Airport in Cotonou amidst much emotion, met by her loved ones and admirers.

On the night of Thursday, July 17, 2025, Benin received the mortal remains of one of its iconic figures in the broadcasting landscape, Sonia Annick Agbantou. Having passed away in Dijon, France, on Monday, June 23, at the age of 39, the brilliant broadcaster leaves behind a radio and television legacy etched in memory.
The Cardinal Bernardin Gantin Airport in Cotonou became a place of commemoration and tribute for a night. In a heavy emotional atmosphere, family, colleagues, fans, and strangers alike gathered to welcome Sonia’s coffin. Amidst the tears and prayers, deep respect was also shown upon her return to her birthplace.
