A suspected motorcycle thief was apprehended by the republican police in Parakou after stealing a bike in unusual circumstances in Natitingou.
A suspected motorcycle thief was apprehended by the republican police in Parakou after stealing a bike in unusual circumstances in Natitingou.
According to an official statement, the events unfolded on Tuesday, July 8. The accused allegedly approached his victim offering a cell phone for sale. Interested but lacking cash, the young man agreed to take him home to ask his parents for financial assistance.
Upon their arrival, the situation took an unexpected turn: the young man’s father had just been stung by a scorpion. In a state of panic, he left his Bajaj motorcycle parked in front of the house, the key still in the ignition.
Taking advantage of the confusion, the individual seized the bike and disappeared. Alerted, the police opened an investigation and were able to locate the suspect in Parakou. He was arrested and brought to Natitingou, where he will have to answer for his actions.
The investigation continues to identify any possible accomplices.
