Benin: Algeria offers 88 scholarships and 2 master’s positions for 2026-2027
The Algerian government is providing 88 study scholarships and two professional master’s positions to Benin for the 2026-2027 academic year, according to three announcements from the Beninese Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research published by the Directorate of Scholarships and University Aid (DBAU). The offer includes 70 university scholarships, 18 vocational training scholarships at the BAC+2 level, and two professional master’s positions in social security in Algiers.
Physical applications must be submitted to the DBAU in Cotonou by Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 12:00 pm. For all three offers, candidates must also email scanned copies of their documents in PDF format. The announcements specify that any incomplete or non-compliant application will be rejected.
The 70 university scholarships are available to holders of the 2025 or 2026 baccalaureate who have a good command of French and are not already receiving a scholarship at a public university in Benin. A minimum average of 12/20 in the baccalaureate is required for architecture and veterinary sciences. Fifteen fields are offered, including computer science, web and mobile development, hydrocarbons, renewable energies, maritime engineering, mechanical engineering, and food sciences.
Beneficiaries must commit, along with their parents, to provide an additional scholarship of 50,000 FCFA per month for the entire duration of the training. They must also be able to complete visa formalities, obtain health insurance in Algeria, and follow the program selected by the Algerian side.
18 vocational training scholarships
The second component involves 18 vocational training scholarships at the BAC+2 level. Candidates must hold a secondary or vocational baccalaureate obtained in 2025 or 2026, or an equivalent diploma, have a good command of French and scientific subjects, be aged between 18 and 30, and not already be scholarship holders at a public university in Benin.
Nine specialties are available: road and various networks, tourism and travel production, hotel management, waste management and recycling, web and mobile development, industrial electricity, textile production and fashion design, public works management, and interior architecture. The attached table in the announcement allocates the 18 positions between eight girls and ten boys.
Two master’s positions in social security
Algeria is also offering Benin two professional master’s positions at the Higher School of Social Security in Algiers. The programs cover social protection law, management, actuarial science and finance, as well as information systems and digital transformation. They are open to Beninese candidates holding a bachelor’s degree, an engineering diploma, a master’s degree, or an equivalent recognized qualification in the targeted specialties.
For this master’s program, the announcement specifies that the scholarship only covers annual tuition fees, and other expenses remain the responsibility of the beneficiaries. Additionally, all three procedures require a study fee of 5,000 FCFA, payable to the public treasury, before submission to the DBAU.
