Benin: a motorcycle taxi driver killed, two women seriously injured, and a baby miraculous survivor in an accident in Covè
A serious traffic accident has mourned the commune of Covè, specifically the locality of Naogon Aïzondo, this Sunday, August 9, 2026.

According to reports from the local radio station Tonassé Fm, the tragedy occurred when a car transporting bags of charcoal collided head-on with a motorcycle taxi driver. This latter was carrying three passengers: two women and an infant aged just 9 months.
The impact, of unprecedented violence, was fatal for the motorcycle driver, who died on the spot. The two female passengers were also severely affected: one suffered fractures in both legs, while the other is in critical condition. In the midst of this tragedy, the 9-month-old infant miraculously survived and came out unscathed from the collision.
Police forces, dispatched to the scene, conducted the usual assessments. A judicial investigation was immediately opened to clarify the exact circumstances of this tragedy and to establish responsibilities.
