A violent fire broke out on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Hêvié Allassankomey, a district of the Abomey-Calavi Municipality, completely destroying a house being used as a warehouse.

The illegal storage of adulterated gasoline, commonly known as “Kpayo”, is the cause of a violent fire in Abomey Calavi. No loss of life has been reported, but the material damage is substantial.

Firefighters took several hours to put out the flames in a densely populated neighborhood. To prevent the spread, they had to remove the roofs of several neighboring houses.
