Benin: A fire has caused extensive damage to a bar at Togbin Beach.
A sudden scare swept through Togbin Beach on Saturday afternoon, January 3, 2026.

Around 5 p.m., a fire broke out in a busy bar in this neighborhood, located in the Godomey arrondissement, in the Abomey-Calavi commune, causing panic among customers and residents.
According to the initial information relayed by BIP Radio, the blaze is believed to have been caused by a domestic gas leak. The quick actions of the establishment’s owner and staff helped to quickly contain the flames, preventing a more serious spread of the fire.
The firefighters, alerted immediately, intervened to secure the area and prevent any risk of the fire reigniting, according to the same source.
There were no fatalities or injuries reported. The damage is purely material, with a portion of the bar’s roof completely destroyed by the flames.
