Atlético Madrid: “He can change the course of a match,” Diego Simeone praises Ademola Lookman

Having arrived at Atlético Madrid on the last day of the winter transfer window, Ademola Lookman quickly convinced Diego Simeone, who has been lavish in praise after the first training sessions and could give him his debut against Real Betis this Thursday evening in the Copa del Rey.

As coach of Atlético Madrid, Diego Simeone has not ceased praising his new signing Ademola Lookman, reports the Daily Post. Long coveted, the Nigerian winger was already on the radar of several European giants during the last summer transfer window. The Rojiblancos ultimately managed to seal his arrival on the last day of the winter transfer window, notably beating out the Turkish club Fenerbahçe.

Hardly settled in Madrid, Lookman quickly blended into the group. Since his arrival at the Metropolitano Stadium, the Nigerian international has already taken part in two training sessions with his new teammates, leaving a very positive impression on his coach.

“He has integrated into the group very quickly. We immediately noticed his physical power, his speed, his ability to make a difference, and his impact in the last 30 metres.”, highlighted Diego Simeone, in remarks relayed by Football España. “We hope that he can bring us what he imagines and what we expect of him,” added the Argentine coach.

Satisfied with the attitude and commitment of the player, Simeone could give Ademola Lookman his first steps in the Atlético shirt as early as Thursday, on the occasion of the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Real Betis.
