Argentina-Benin: Messi unveils special jersey for his final match
Lionel Messi has unveiled the special jersey he will wear for his final appearance with the Argentine national team, scheduled for October 6 against Benin at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. The 39-year-old forward showcased the kit on his Instagram account as he approaches his farewell with the Albiceleste.
The design retains Argentina’s sky blue and white colors, featuring the name MESSI and the number 10 in gold on the back. The Sun of May is also displayed on the rear. This kit accompanies the farewell match organized following the announcement of the Argentine captain’s international retirement at the end of August.
The match against the Squirrels will conclude a series of three home friendlies for Argentina. Lionel Scaloni’s squad will first face Bolivia on September 30 in Córdoba, followed by Burkina Faso on October 3 at the Monumental. Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Giovani Lo Celso have been confirmed for the October 6 encounter.
For Benin, the match will take place after their first two matches in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, against Burkina Faso on September 25 and Mauritania on September 29. The Squirrels will then travel to Buenos Aires for this prestigious match against the 2026 World Cup runners-up.
The ticket sales for the Argentina-Benin match are set to open on Tuesday, September 22. The announced prices range from 90,000 to 480,000 Argentine pesos depending on the category.
