AFCON 2025: Zambia snatches a draw against Mali
With a Patson Daka goal in stoppage time, Zambia snatched a draw against Mali (1-1) on Monday, as part of the opening matchday of AFCON 2025 group stages.

The AFCON 2025 group stage continued on Monday with a clash between Zambia and Mali in Group A. The match ultimately ended level (1-1) despite a hard-fought contest. Dominant, the Eagles thought they had done the hardest with the opener from Lassine Sinayoko in the 61st minute (61′).
But they hadn’t counted on the determination of the Chipolopolo, who forced the equalizer in stoppage time — a goal by striker Patson Daka in the final minutes of the game (92′). A result that helps neither side; both will need to go for a win in their next outing to get back on track. Note that two other matches are scheduled for Tuesday: South Africa vs Angola (6:00 PM, GMT+1) and Egypt vs Zimbabwe (9:00 PM, GMT+1).
