Former Ivorian international Salomon Kalou has shown his support for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Unlucky finalists of the previous edition, which ended with a 2-1 defeat to host Ivory Coast, the Nigerians enter the Moroccan tournament with the ambition to go all the way. And for Kalou, the squad coached by Éric Chelle has strong reasons to aim for the title.
« Nigeria looks very strong this year. With Victor Osimhen up front, they have one of the most feared attackers in world football », wrote the former Elephants striker in his column published on Tribuna. He went on to add: « By combining the pace and creativity of Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze, as well as Wilfred Ndidi’s stability in midfield, you get a balanced, complete team. »
A three-time African champion, Nigeria is among the continent’s most decorated nations, with three titles, five finals and eight bronze medals to its record. Drawn into Group C, the Super Eagles will face Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda. They will kick off their quest for a fourth title next Tuesday against the Taifa Stars.
