The Confederation of African Football (« CAF ») condemns the unacceptable behavior of certain players and officials during the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat on Sunday evening.
The match was delayed by nearly 20 minutes due to disturbances in the stands, when some Senegalese supporters attempted to breach the pitch and clashed with security forces. Senegal captain Sadio Mané remained on the field and was seen urging his teammates to return so that the match could resume.
After the restart, Diaz’s Panenka penalty attempt was saved by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy before Pape Gueye scored a magnificent goal in the fourth minute of extra time, thus securing a spectacular 1-0 victory for Senegal.
In a statement, CAF strongly condemned any inappropriate conduct occurring during matches, particularly those aimed at the refereeing team or the organizers of the encounter. The body said it is currently reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to the competent authorities so that appropriate measures are taken against those found guilty.
