With Mohamed Salah's penalty, Egypt took the lead over South Africa (1-0) this Friday on the second matchday of Group B at AFCON 2025. A precious victory that allows the Pharaohs to secure their ticket to the round of 16.

As favorites for the title, Egypt will play in the knockout stage of AFCON 2025. The Pharaohs are assured of reaching the round of 16 after their victory over South Africa this Friday. Facing the Bafana Bafana in a Group B clash on the second matchday, the Egyptians prevailed 1-0. The goal, from a penalty, was scored by captain Mohamed Salah near the end of the first half.
With two wins from two games, Egypt now sits alone atop Group B with six points. South Africa trails in second with three points. Angola and Zimbabwe, who were level at 1-1 earlier in the day, are at the bottom with one point each.
