Beaten at the start by Senegal (3-0), Botswana is already under pressure at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. This Saturday in Rabat, the Zebras face Benin at the annex stadium of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, in a clash between two teams seeking their first win. The Leopards also come off a narrow defeat to the DR Congo (0-1), which gives this match the feel of a turning point in the group.
Aware of the urgency, the Botswana coach Morena Ramoreboli announced adjustments, notably on the offensive front. The South African coach wants his team to be more enterprising and more effective in the decisive zones, while correcting the concentration lapses observed during the opening match.
“We also need to be honest: it’s not easy to erase bad results or defeats from the players’ minds. They want to do well and they always put pressure on themselves to be among the best,” he said.
Beyond the sporting stakes, Ramoreboli sees this AFCON as a showcase for the talents of his country. “It’s an ideal platform to show what Botswana can offer,” he explained, urging his players to embrace the pressure and show up. Facing a Benin team better ranked on the continent, the Zebras will need to raise their level to hope to relaunch their tournament. The Benin vs. Botswana match will start this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Benin time.
