AFCON 2025 : Benin’s squad includes Mounié and Olaitan
Benin’s national coach has unveiled his squad for AFCON 2025. And Gernot Rohr has called up 28 Cheetahs, including Steve Mounié and Junior Olaitan.

Much anticipated, Benin’s squad for the AFCON 2025 finals has been released. Coach Gernot Rohr has published a 28-player group for the African competition to be held in Morocco, from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. Unsurprisingly, Andreas Hountondji and Felipe Santos, who were ruled out, are not in the squad.
By contrast, the other mainstays are present, such as captain Steve Mounié, Olivier Verdon, Junior Olaitan and Jodel Dossou. Drawn in a tough Group D alongside Senegal, the DRC and Botswana, the Cheetahs kick off their campaign on 23 December against the Congolese Leopards.
