The medical team tasked with evaluating candidates for the 2026 presidential election is now complete.
On Monday, November 3, 2025, Professor Angèle Azon Kouanou, a specialist in internal medicine, was sworn in before the Constitutional Court, in accordance with the provisions set out for the electoral process.
She thus joins Professors Francis Tognon Tchegnonsi, psychiatrist, and Léopold Houétondji Codjo, cardiologist, who were sworn in on October 17.
The three practitioners now form the medical panel responsible for conducting the medical examination of the candidates for the presidency.
Their mission is to assess the physical and mental fitness of each presidential ticket, a preliminary and mandatory step before the Constitutional Court’s final approval of the candidacies.
