The party Les Démocrates has decided to officially challenge the exclusion of its list from the 2026 municipal elections. Its spokesperson, Guy Mitokpè, announced on Wednesday the filing of an appeal with the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn the decision issued by the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA).
At a press briefing held Tuesday in Cotonou, the party led by Boni Yayi rejected the CENA decision, which it called “unjust”.
The opposition party says it was unfairly excluded from the electoral process and denounces practices it considers contrary to the principles of fairness and transparency.
Les Démocrates say they remain determined to defend their rights through legal channels and to continue their commitment to a fairer electoral competition.
