2026 general elections: Peosc talks with Dorothé Sossa
The President of the Constitutional Court, Professor Cossi Dorothé Sossa, received on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, a delegation from the electoral platform of civil society organizations.
Led by its president, Dr. Azizou Chabi Imorou, the delegation is continuing a tour of institutions involved in preparing the 2026 general elections.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Imorou recalled the role of the organisation he also leads, the National Group for Electoral Responses. Created in June, this group analyzes the pre-election climate, makes recommendations and supports the platform in its observation work.
He emphasized civil society’s determination to support the electoral process by strengthening its monitoring mechanism, reaffirming the goal of ensuring peaceful, free and transparent elections.
Professor Sossa welcomed the approach and encouraged the platform to continue its initiatives. He reminded them that the country’s stability depends on collective commitment, saying that every actor has a role to play in preserving peace.
He stressed the importance of coordinated work to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming elections.
The electoral platform plans to continue its awareness-raising and training activities for citizens throughout the process. It also announced that an evaluation report will be published after the polls in order to provide a comprehensive assessment of the conduct of electoral operations.
