Megan Thee Stallion opens up after her breakup with Klay Thompson
Megan Thee Stallion reflects on a breakup that pushed her to refocus. In an interview published Wednesday, 9 September by InStyle, the American rapper explains that in trying to make her relationship with Klay Thompson work, she ended up feeling like she was losing a part of herself.

The couple had made their relationship official in the summer of 2025 before announcing their split in April 2026. At the time, Megan Thee Stallion stated that trust, loyalty, and respect were non-negotiable for her and that she chose to end the relationship when these values were, in her words, compromised.
In her new interview, the 31-year-old artist describes this period as particularly challenging. She recounts trying to fit into someone else’s life to the point where she no longer fully recognized herself, before deciding to rebuild around her own priorities.
The rapper especially emphasizes what she now expects from a relationship. She says she wants a partner who respects her work pace, her autonomy, and her role as an artist, without asking her to step back. For her, the next relationship must be based on equality.
This desire to regain control goes beyond her love life. Megan Thee Stallion explains that she continues to work on herself, notably through therapy, while allowing herself more moments of rest when the pressure becomes too intense.
Her journey is also linked to several major collaborations, including the remix of “Savage” with Beyoncé,which helped establish Megan Thee Stallion at the forefront of American rap.
Professionally, the star is also preparing what’s next. InStyle reports that a new album is in the works and will mark the return of her alter ego Tina Snow. Megan is also developing an animated series in which she will voice her own character and is working on a film script.
This new interview comes nearly five months after the public announcement of her breakup with Klay Thompson. No release date has yet been announced for Megan Thee Stallion’s upcoming album.
