Marcelo once again weighs in on the debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The debate over the greatest player of all time continues to provoke strong opinions. Marcelo, for his part, seems to have made his choice clear. In an interview with Mexican content creators Isi and Benny, known on social media as Si somos gemelos, the former Brazilian international was asked to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. His response left no room for doubt. “ Oh, let’s see… But you already know: Cristiano until death ,” Marcelo declared.

A preference that is not surprising given the shared history of the two men. Marcelo shared the Real Madrid locker room with Cristiano Ronaldo for nine seasons, from 2009 to 2018. During this time, the two players notably won several major titles with the Madrid club, including four Champions Leagues.

The Brazilian was thus one of Ronaldo’s closest partners during his time at Real Madrid. This relationship likely explains why, when it comes to choosing between the Portuguese and Messi, Marcelo remains loyal to his former teammate. Retired since 2025, the former defender continues to make headlines regularly when he discusses the great figures of his generation.
