Mami Watta opens her first solo show “Je vous salue Mami” in Paris

This first solo performance comes just over a year after her crowning in the inaugural edition of “Drag Race France All Stars.” France Télévisions had named her the first French All Stars queen following a finale at the Olympia in front of more than 2,000 spectators.

In “Je vous salue Mami,” the artist draws from her personal history. The presentation at the Maison des Métallos traces her narrative back to her Catholic childhood in Abidjan, her arrival in France, and her journey through the stages of “Drag Race.”

The show transforms this journey into stand-up material. The Parisian venue describes a script that tackles themes of religion, family pressures, self-affirmation, and visibility, infused with direct humor and the “shade” characteristic of ballroom culture. The focus remains on autobiography rather than a series of cabaret numbers.

Sceneweb presents “Je vous salue Mami” as the very first solo show of the Ivorian winner. For Mami Watta, who gained public recognition through television and was celebrated in All Stars, this series of performances marks the beginning of a longer format built around her own narrative.

The Paris series includes eight performances between September 15 and September 24, with an announced duration of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The sessions take place at the Maison des Métallos, with a discussion featuring the artistic team planned after the performance on Thursday, September 17.
