Joe Biden slams Trump administration: “They’re hacking away at Social Security”
In a speech that was both firm and emotional, former U.S. President Joe Biden spoke out to denounce what he described as a full-scale assault on Social Security by the Trump administration, just 100 days after its return to power.

Speaking at a national conference on the protection of social rights, the 82-year-old Biden criticized what he sees as a deeply unjust policy:
“They’re hacking away at Social Security, laying off 7,000 employees—including the most experienced ones,” he stated.
For Biden, this attack on one of the pillars of the American social model is no accident—it is, in his view, the centerpiece of a carefully crafted strategy:
“All of this is aimed at funding massive tax cuts for billionaires, while working people see their fundamental guarantees disappear.”
Biden also emphasized the moral significance of Social Security, describing it as a “sacred bond of trust between the government and the people.” According to him, it’s not just about pensions or benefits—it’s about honoring a national promise.
An “anti-fraud expert” and… Elon Musk
The former president also criticized the controversial February appointment of an “anti-fraud expert” to lead the Social Security Administration—a move he sees as a symbolic act of “ideological dismantling.”
But what especially raised concern for Biden is the mission entrusted to Elon Musk, who has been tasked by Donald Trump with “downsizing the federal government.”
