Ivory Coast: Mamadi Doumbouya arrives in Abidjan for a state visit

The trip was announced the day before by the Guinean presidency’s civil cabinet. Authorities have described this visit as a step towards strengthening relations between the two countries, focusing on bilateral cooperation, peace, and regional integration.

The Ivorian news agency reported that the Guinean head of state was scheduled to depart at 3:00 pm from Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport, following a ceremony attended by civil, military, and diplomatic officials.

According to MediaGuinee, Doumbouya is expected to discuss several issues of mutual interest with Alassane Ouattara. The talks will likely cover mining, energy, border issues, and sub-regional cooperation.

This visit comes amid a visible rapprochement between Conakry and Abidjan. In recent months, the two presidencies have increased exchanges on economic cooperation, regional security, and relations between neighboring states.

Mamadi Doumbouya had previously visited Abidjan in June 2025 for talks with Alassane Ouattara, marking his first visit to Ivory Coast since taking power in Guinea.
