The Nigerian singer Omah Stanley Didia, better known as Omah Lay, admitted that he has stopped forcing himself to quit smoking. The artist claims to have tried several times to end this habit, without being able to shake it off permanently. Recently invited to DJ Dan’s podcast, the performer of “Soso” explained that he has ultimately chosen to accept his relationship with tobacco and cannabis, feeling that life is too short to continue engaging in a constant struggle against this habit.

“I love to smoke. I tried to quit, I forced myself, but it was impossible. Honestly, life is short. I’m going to die one day. We’re all going to die one day. So, what’s the point of forcing myself to stop smoking?” he stated. Omah Lay also believes that the illegal status of cannabis in Nigeria gives him a sense of personal satisfaction and transgression. “I just want to be at peace and smoke my weed. The fact that it’s illegal in Nigeria gives me an artificial happiness and a feeling of rebellion,” he explained.

The artist has thus claimed his choice to fully enjoy his daily life, despite the difficulties he says he faced when trying to give up this habit. “There you go. It’s my life. I’m going to live it to the fullest. I’m going to enjoy every moment,” Omah Lay concluded.
