Bella Bah, known for his critical stance on social media, is said to have disappeared from his workplace, a school he founded. In a message posted on Facebook Saturday evening, his wife, Ami Bah, stated that her husband had been “kidnapped” and said she did not know where he was.

A witness cited by the family claims to have seen several men in uniform and masks arriving in pickup trucks. According to this testimony, they allegedly seized Bella Bah, dragged him outside, and forcibly took him away. These elements have not been independently confirmed.

The disappearance occurred just hours after the activist published a message criticizing Mamadou Saliou Camara, the chief imam of the Grande Mosquée Fayçal. However, no link has been established between this publication and Bella Bah’s presumed disappearance.

No official confirmation

At this stage, Guinean authorities have not acknowledged having arrested Bella Bah. They have also not specified where he might be or indicated the reasons for a possible arrest.

Very active on social media, the activist regularly participates in political debates and social issues. His disappearance occurs in a context marked by concerns from civil society organizations regarding the fate of several activists and social actors in Guinea.

The NGO Tournons La Page Guinée denounces a “modus operandi” which, according to them, undermines the rule of law. Bella Bah’s family is asking authorities to assist in locating him and to ensure his safety.
