The show, titled “A Storm Is Coming to Lienda,” was set to start at 20 hours. A few hours before the event, Lienda Ville management announced its suspension, citing a directive from the Regional Police Command and the Dean of Students’ Affairs at KNUST, which raised safety and security concerns for students and residents.

In a statement later shared on TikTok and reported by several Ghanaian media outlets on Monday, 7 September, Shatta Wale said he wanted to perform in Kumasi but accepted the security officials’ advice. He noted that the large crowds his concerts attract require organizers to select suitable venues and strengthen crowd control measures.

The musician emphasized that the cancellation did not reflect a lack of interest in his Ashanti region fans. On the contrary, he urged promoters to pay closer attention to venue capacity and security measures when booking artists likely to draw large audiences.

Cancellation Announced Just Hours Before the Concert

The cancellation sparked many reactions among students and fans who had planned to attend. In an initial message posted on 4 September, Shatta Wale simply announced the KNUST concert was cancelled, promising explanations during a live TikTok session.

Lienda Ville management later stated the decision followed instructions from regional and university authorities. Reports published the same day by The Ghana Mail and The Vaultz News already highlighted security and crowd control risks around the chosen event site.

As of 8 September, no new date had been announced for the concert. Shatta Wale expressed willingness to reconnect with his Kumasi audience once a suitable venue and security arrangements are in place.
