Anderlecht reduced the deficit in the 61st minute through Mihajlo Cvetković, who headed in a cross from Ali Maamar. The Belgian club then pushed for an equalizer, but Lyon maintained their advantage until the final whistle.

The victory gives OL three points on the first day of the league phase. For Nartey, this goal extends a strong start to the season: the Danish midfielder had already scored against Toulouse and found the net again in his second start of the season.

Lyon will host Crystal Palace on October 15 for their second European outing. Anderlecht will travel the same day to face Dinamo Zagreb, according to the schedule published by UEFA.
