Dogbo: a fifty-year-old woman in police custody for attacking her grandson with a machete.
A family tragedy rocked the village of Touléhoudji, specifically the locality of Lawèhoué, located in the Lokogohoué district (Dogbo municipality).

On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, a woman in her fifties was arrested by law enforcement after violently attacking her ten-year-old grandson with a machete.
The incident occurred while the grandmother and the young boy were heading to farm work. For reasons that remain unexplained, the grandmother turned on the child, inflicting several blows with a sharp weapon.
Alerted by the victim’s cries for help, nearby residents quickly intervened at the scene. They managed to rescue the young boy from his grandmother’s grasp before notifying the authorities.
Medical Assistance and Judicial Proceedings
Presenting severe injuries, the child was urgently evacuated to Saint Camille Hospital for appropriate care.
Informed of the situation, members of the Republican Police intervened on-site. The suspect was apprehended and taken to the Tota police station, where she was placed in custody. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy and the motives behind the assault.
