Davido: “There’s nothing wrong with couples having separate bank accounts.”
Nigerian star Davido has spoken in favor of some financial autonomy within the couple. The singer believes that each partner, both men and women, should have their own bank account to handle unexpected situations.

Davido shared his vision of financial management within the couple during his appearance on the podcast The Uncut. When asked about the possibility of a woman having a personal bank account, even one unknown to her partner, the Nigerian artist answered affirmatively. For the Afrobeat star, this independence should not be reserved for women but should apply to both partners, regardless of their marital status. “Yes, I think it’s a good thing. I even think they should have one. You never know,” explained Davido. The singer also assured that he would not feel offended if he discovered that his own wife had a bank account of which he was unaware.
For Davido, keeping a part of one’s finances independently is primarily a matter of caution. Since life can bring unexpected changes, everyone should be capable of meeting their own needs. According to him, this approach can also help maintain balance within the couple. Financial independence would thus not be incompatible with being in a relationship, but rather a form of personal security. “I think everyone should have their own,” concluded the singer, urging both men and women to maintain a degree of autonomy in managing their finances.
