Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez: why the couple chose an intimate wedding
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez chose to celebrate their wedding away from the spotlight, in the intimacy of their home in Portugal. This decision was embraced by the Portuguese’s partner, who explained that she prioritized a family-oriented and symbolic moment with their children over a grand ceremony.

Georgina Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner, reflected on the reasons that led the couple to favor an intimate ceremony at their home rather than a lavish wedding. Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez officially announced their marriage on Tuesday, August 11, through a joint post on Instagram. The event took place with the utmost discretion at their property in Cascais, Portugal, in the presence of their loved ones.
This choice may have come as a surprise, as the couple could have opted for a sumptuous ceremony. In an interview with Vogue, Georgina Rodriguez explained that her perception of marriage had profoundly changed over the years. “As a little girl, I imagined the biggest castle, the most beautiful carriage, the longest dress, and a crown adorned with diamonds,” she confessed.
“I wanted something intimate”
With time, her priorities shifted. “Now, I find myself saying: no. I want something intimate, to share with my partner and our children, in the comfort of our home,” the Spaniard explained.
For Georgina Rodriguez, luxury is already a part of the couple’s daily life. “We have daily access to castles, houses, islands, horses, and cars. However, an intimate gathering is something more unique for us,” she added.
The choice of their family living room also held a symbolic dimension. “We chose to celebrate the ceremony in our living room, the place where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live our daily lives,” she shared.
The model especially hopes that this day will be etched in their children’s memories. “In 30 years, I want our children to remember that a wonderful event took place at this table: their parents’ wedding vows,” she concluded.
