A chance discovery allowed law enforcement to intercept a large shipment of psychotropic products on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Agla roundabout in Cotonou.

Read in FrenchAlerted by residents about a vehicle engulfed in flames and abandoned on the public road, police officers quickly arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, the driver had already fled, leaving the burning car behind.
An inspection of the cabin and the trunk revealed an illicit cargo consisting of 26,560 tablets of Tramaking 250 mg.
The vehicle, which had foreign plates, was towed and impounded. Investigations are currently underway to determine the origin and final destination of the drugs, as well as to identify the fleeing driver.
