CAN Women 2026: the semi-final posters

The matchups for the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations are now set, following the quarter-finals played on Sunday. Cameroon caused a sensation by eliminating the defending champion Nigeria by the narrowest margin (1-0). Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen scored the only goal of the match, propelling the Indomitable Lionesses into the final four. The Cameroonians will face Morocco, the host country, in the semi-finals for a place in the final of the tournament.

In the other quarter-final, Malawi also pulled off a nice victory by defeating Ghana (2-1). The Black Queens had opened the scoring through Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah. However, the Scorchers quickly responded with an equalizer from Temwa Chawinga in the 12th minute. Rose Kadzere then gave Malawi the lead in the second half, securing a historic qualification for the semi-finals of the Women’s AFCON. This victory also qualifies Malawi for the Women’s World Cup 2027 for the first time in its history. In the semi-final, Malawi will face Algeria, with a spot in the final and a new historic opportunity in sight.
