Beyoncé debuts new look for her 45th birthday, channeling the ‘B’Day’ era
Beyoncé embraced nostalgia to celebrate a double milestone. At 45, the American superstar revealed a new hair color inspired by the era of B’Day, her second solo album released in 2006, featuring a warmer and deeper version of her signature blonde.

The transformation was noticed during her stay in London, just days after her birthday on September 4. Her longtime colorist, Rita Hazan, explained to Vogue that she worked on a slightly darker base, enhanced with amber and golden highlights to capture the spirit of 2006 without replicating the original look exactly.
The reference is significant. B’Day celebrated its 20th anniversary on the same day as the singer’s birthday. At that time, Beyoncé already sported a palette of warm browns and honey-blonde highlights that accompanied several visuals and appearances from that period.
For this 2026 version, Rita Hazan aimed for more depth and movement. The singer wore her long curls in a half-up hairstyle, with more visible caramel tones at the roots and bright highlights throughout the lengths.
The new look was also spotted during an outing in London following a Jay-Z concert. InStyle noted a highly styled silhouette, featuring a brown Roberto Cavalli mini dress adorned with golden and pink sequins, paired with velvet heels and accessories that matched the warm tones of her new color.
The birthday weekend kicked off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Jay-Z and the audience sang “Happy Birthday” to Beyoncé during the concert on September 4. The singer, seated in a VIP box, responded to the cheers with smiles and kisses to the crowd.
B’Day, featuring hits like “Déjà Vu,” “Irreplaceable,” and “Ring the Alarm,” was released on September 4, 2006. The album celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 4, 2026, the same day Beyoncé turned 45.
