Who Is Maître Renaud Agbodjo?

Born on September 17, 1982 in Sinfra, Côte d’Ivoire, and originally from Igbodja (Savè), Maître Renaud Agbodjo has established himself as one of the leading figures of the new generation of Beninese lawyers.

A member of the Cotonou bar since 2012, he has distinguished himself defending civil liberties and opposition figures, notably Laurent Mètongnon, Sébastien Ajavon, Thomas Boni Yayi and Reckya Madougou.

Former president of the Union of Young Lawyers of Benin (2022-2025), he has rallied a significant segment of the country’s intellectual youth, drawn to his message on social justice and the rule of law.

His style, both incisive and measured, earns him the respect even of his opponents. A thoughtful strategist, he today embodies a deliberate generational shift, while advocating a return to a Benin defined by justice, balance and merit.

Who Is Jude Lodjou?

Born on October 28, 1966 in Cotonou, the Honorable Jude Bonaventure Lodjou is a respected figure on the Beninese political scene. His career reflects a long-standing commitment to democracy and local development.

Holder of two literary baccalaureate degrees obtained the same year – one in Burkina Faso, where he was in exile during the revolution, and the other in Benin – he went on to complete an impressive course of higher education, earning a master’s degree in Literature (specializing in African literature), a master’s degree in Law (specializing in business law and judicial careers), a Master’s in project management, and a certificate in crisis management and emergency planning.

His leadership as a student took shape at the University of Abomey-Calavi, where he served two terms on the FLASH student union board while also heading the Students’ Arts and Cultural Ensemble (EACE) for two terms.

A Seasoned Activist

On the political front, Jude Lodjou has held several key positions: founding member and former deputy secretary-general of the Movement for Popular Alternation (MAP), former secretary-general of the Force Clé party, general coordinator of Union Fait la Nation, and currently head of Operations for the Les Démocrates (LD) party.

Elected MP for the 5th legislature, former head of the Agué district and member of the Toffo municipal council, he embodies unwavering commitment to the opposition’s struggle and to pluralist democracy.

Outside the political sphere, he heads the consulting firm “GDL Afrique” (Governance – Development – Leadership) and is a governance expert listed in the United Nations database of political and institutional governance specialists.
