Benin: unavailability of emergency numbers 166 and 117 of the Police, here’s what to do
The Republican Police announced, in an official statement dated July 6, 2025, technical disruptions affecting the emergency toll-free numbers 166 and 117.

These lines, which are respectively linked to the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of the Police, are temporarily unavailable.
According to the authorities, a technical malfunction is responsible for this unavailability, which impedes the reception of emergency calls in real time. Specialized teams have been mobilized to restore the service as soon as possible.
Alternative numbers in service
While waiting for the problem to be resolved, two temporary numbers have been set up to ensure the continuity of public service:
- 01 21 31 45 82
- 01 96 94 43 00
These lines are dedicated to receiving reports, requests or urgent calls for help. The Republican Police encourages citizens to use them as needed and assures that efforts are ongoing to return to normal.
