Benin: the UP le Renouveau receives its provisional certificate of candidacy for the 2026 municipal elections
The Commission Électorale Nationale Autonome (CENA) officially handed the Union Progressiste le Renouveau (UPR) party its provisional certificate of registration for candidate lists this Monday, November 3, 2025, ahead of the municipal elections scheduled for January 2026.

According to CENA, the document confirms that the files submitted by the UPR are compliant, pending the official publication of the list of parties approved for the election.
In total, five political parties have filed applications for the municipal elections: the UPR, the Forces Cauris pour un Bénin Émergent (FCBE), Les Démocrates (LD), the Bloc Républicain (BR) and MOELE-Bénin.
The Union Progressiste le Renouveau (UPR) is the first party to be granted this provisional certificate.
