Benin: Tuesday, August 25, 2026 declared a public holiday

The announcement was made by the Minister of the Civil Service, Rodrigue Chaou, in an official statement released on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The decision is made in accordance with the regulatory texts in force in the Republic of Benin. The ministerial statement recalls that the measure is taken pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 90-019 of July 27, 1990, establishing public holidays in the country.

As a result, all public administrations, state institutions, as well as private-sector companies and establishments are required to observe this legal day of rest throughout the country.

Government wishes to the Muslim community

On behalf of the government and the President of the Republic, Romuald Wadagni, Minister Rodrigue Chaou extended his best wishes for Mawlid to the entire Muslim community of Benin.

This moment of reflection and religious celebration marks an important milestone in the Islamic spiritual calendar.
