Benin: Death Toll from Boat Capsize Rises from 6 to 8
The tragedy that struck on Lake Nokoué last Sunday has worsened as two additional bodies were discovered, bringing the total number of fatalities to eight.

On the afternoon of Sunday, April 21, 2024, a boat carrying twelve passengers lost control and capsized during its journey from the Kpankpan neighborhood in Cotonou to the village of Sôtchanhoué in the commune of Sô-Ava. The initial count was four survivors and six deaths.
However, according to the latest reports from local radio Bip FM, twenty-four hours after the disaster, the death toll has risen, with two more bodies recovered by rescue teams. This incident has plunged the local communities into profound sorrow, with the families of the deceased expressing their immeasurable loss through inconsolable mourning.
