Benin: Awaou BACO in contact with SMEs in Alibori and Borgou.

The tour aimed to make contact with several structures under the ministry and assess the support mechanisms for young people, women, artisans, and persons with disabilities.

The first stop took place on Tuesday, July 28, in the Alibori department. After a discussion with Prefect Ahmed Bello Ky-Sama, the minister went to Malanville, where she met with SME leaders, mechanics, and rabbit breeders.

In Nikki, Awaou Baco also visited the vocational training center for craftsmanship. She discussed with the officials and learners about the training offered and the prospects for professional integration.

The minister then held a working session at the Kandi town hall with young people. According to the report on the tour, the discussions focused on the opportunities provided by public programs in terms of training, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The AZOLI program engages young people and persons with disabilities

On Wednesday, July 29, the ministerial delegation continued its journey in Borgou, following a courtesy visit to Prefect Abdoul Chakour Assouma Naro.

At the Amaldi Prestige Hotel, the minister met with about fifty young people from the four northern departments who are beneficiaries of the AZOLI program. These participants were undergoing an internship. The discussions focused on the progress of their training and the possibilities for integration at the end of the program.

Another aspect of the program involves 46 persons with disabilities trained in shoemaking and leathercraft. This component aims to enhance their access to professional skills and economic independence.

The tour also made a stop at the SME ASAFMA, specializing in welding, fitting, and manufacturing machines for the agri-food sector. The company is supported by the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Entrepreneurship Support Project in Benin, and the Chamber of Crafts of Benin.

Digital platforms presented as access points to public programs

The delegation finally visited Delika’s Tissage, a craft enterprise active in weaving traditional fabrics, producing woven bands, and creating customized items. The promoter develops products inspired by local textile expertise.

At each stage, the minister encouraged young people, artisans, and SME promoters to use the digital platforms SICA, accessible at www.sica.anpe.bj, and e-PME. These tools are designed to facilitate access to information related to support, funding, formalizing businesses, and professional integration.

Awaou Baco also urged project holders to demonstrate perseverance in their activities. The government intends, according to the report on the tour, to continue reforms and investments in favor of youth and women’s employment and entrepreneurship.
