Benin: About thirty houses damaged by a storm in Tchaourou
In Alafiarou, in the commune of Tchaourou, Friday evening, June 6, 2025, left a bitter taste. A torrential rain, accompanied by strong winds, hit the district, causing significant material damage.

At least 32 homes were unroofed or completely destroyed, according to details from the district chief, Elias Agué Olowoloba, reported by Daabaaru. Public buildings, including stores built by the city hall, as well as several shops, were also affected.
“Around 5:30 PM, an unusually strong wind swept through the district. Roofs flew off, walls collapsed,” he testified, still visibly affected by the intensity of the phenomenon.
Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries were reported. The municipal authorities have been alerted, and the victims now await emergency measures.
The district chief has called for solidarity. He urges authorities at all levels, as well as people of goodwill, to help families who are now left homeless, at the mercy of the elements.
