Anne-Sophie Lapix leaves France 2: here is her replacement

It is now official. Léa Salamé will take over the reins of the 8pm television news on France 2 starting next season. A strategic choice made by France Télévisions, revealed by Le Parisien this Thursday 19 June 2025.

After Caroline Roux turned down the role, being very attached to her programme C dans l’air on France 5, and amid numerous speculations over profiles such as Maya Lauqué or Thomas Sotto, Léa Salamé’s name won out.

The journalist, already well established in the media landscape with her talk show Quelle époque !, will now host the weekday news bulletin while keeping her weekend programme. A rare dual role in the French broadcasting landscape.

A major challenge and a calculated decision

To take on this challenge, Léa Salamé will have to leave France Inter’s morning show, ending her iconic duo with Nicolas Demorand. France Télévisions president Delphine Ernotte reportedly personally advocated for this change, assuring Salamé of the resources and flexibility needed to combine her two roles.

However, the arrival of the wife of Raphaël Glucksmann, a rising figure of the French left, could raise questions as the 2027 presidential election approaches. Her journalistic neutrality could come under close scrutiny, particularly in her coverage of political issues.

Anne-Sophie Lapix prepares her exit

For her part, Anne-Sophie Lapix is preparing her departure with grace. After several years presenting the news, she will hand over her seat on 26 June. According to Le Parisien, she is planning a big farewell party with her whole team.

Starting next season, she will join RTL to take the 6-8pm weekday slot, succeeding Yves Calvi, and will also host a Sunday programme on M6.
