Benin has benefited from the support of the United States through a significant donation of four trucks specially equipped for fuel transport. This batch includes two trucks with a capacity of 40,000 liters intended for aircraft and two others with a capacity of 11,500 liters, along with personal protective equipment and spare parts, all valued at over 1.8 billion CFA francs.

The official handing-over ceremony took place at Camp GUEZO in Cotonou on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, marked by the notable presence of the U.S. Ambassador, Brian Shukan, the Minister of Defense of Benin, Fortunet Alain Nouatin, as well as General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of General Staff, and other senior military officials.
According to the Minister of Defense, this contribution is crucial for achieving national military objectives. Ambassador Shukan emphasized that this gesture is the result of a strengthened partnership between the two nations, also affirming their joint commitment to support Benin in its efforts to combat terrorism. “These trucks will support the refueling operations of the Beninese Armed Forces in the north of the country, allowing them to increase the pace of operations against violent extremist organizations,” he stated.
