Adjohoun: a vehicle fell under the Tovègbamè bridge, four victims counted.
A traffic accident occurred on the evening of Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Tovègbamè bridge, in the municipality of Adjohoun.

After missing a turn according to initial reports, a Toyota Avensis carrying four people ended up under the structure.
Fishermen nearby immediately intervened to assist the occupants of the vehicle. This prompt action was praised by the Beninese Agency for Civil Protection (ABPC) for facilitating initial care before the arrival of specialized teams.
Once on the scene, rescuers from the Adjohoun Communal Civil Protection Center (CCPC) secured the area and administered first aid to the four victims, all of whom remained conscious.
The driver, aged 28 and suffering from injuries to his lip, forehead, and neck, was evacuated to the Adjohoun Zone Hospital after receiving a cervical collar. The other three passengers refused to be transferred to a hospital.
