2026 municipal elections: the 5 parties in the running have now received their provisional registration certificate
Things are becoming clearer for the 2026 municipal elections in Benin. The five political parties selected for the contest have now all obtained their provisional certificates issued by the Commission Électorale Nationale Autonome (CENA).

After Union Progressiste le Renouveau (UP-R) and Bloc Républicain (BR), who were the first to collect their certificates on Monday, three other parties joined the list this Tuesday.
They are the party Les Démocrates (LD), the main opposition party, Force Cauris pour un Bénin Émergent (FCBE), also in opposition, and Moele-Bénin, a political formation of the presidential camp.
While they await their final certificates and the official start of campaigning, the race for the 2026 municipal elections is now on for these political parties.
