2026 legislative elections: UP-Le Renouveau (UP-R) announces the repositioning of all its sitting MPs
Ahead of the 2026 legislative elections, the Union Progressiste Le Renouveau (UP-R) has affirmed its determination to keep all deputies from its current ranks on its candidate lists.

This strategy, announced by the ruling party, signals a desire for continuity and stability within its parliamentary representation.
According to Up-R officials quoted by Le Potentiel, priority will be given to « unity, discipline and the best interest of Benin ». The party believes that its current elected officials have shown commitment and that it is appropriate to build on this experience for the upcoming legislature.
By choosing to renew its deputies, the UP-R is counting on the loyalty of its voters and on recognition for the work accomplished. Some observers believe it is also a strong signal sent to allies and opponents: a consolidation of the majority ahead of the elections.
