The President of the Spanish Football Association announced on Tuesday 19 November at a press conference that Luis Enrique is returning to the head of the national team.
Luis Rubiales, head of Spanish football, announced the return of the former Barcelona coach to head La Roja, who has already qualified for Euro 2020. Enrique has been out of the squad since last March for family reasons and is back in his position a few months before the start of the European Cup. He succeeds his assistant Roberto Moreno, who has produced mixed results since his appointment as head coach. In six games, he has recorded four victories and two draws.
This return of the former Iberian international makes round leather lovers react in Spain. Many consider Roberto Moreno’s sudden dismissal “immoral“. In the cloakroom, no official voices have yet been heard. Spain, a great football nation and world champion in 2010, had a very disappointing World Cup in Russia in 2018. One more reason for Luis Enrique not to be allowed to make mistakes.
