A new attack occurred in Burkina Faso against Canadian mining company workers operating in the country, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
According to sources cited by Reuters, at least ten people died in the attack and dozens more are wounded and missing. The armed assailants targeted a convoy transporting workers from the Canadian gold miner Semafo in eastern Burkina Faso.
The same source citing the company, indicates that the attack took place between the Fada and Boungou mining sites in Semafo, about 40 kilometres from Boungou. This attack comes at a time when several other attacks have taken place in recent days in the country.
