The terrorist group Boko Haram has once again struck in the Lake Chad region. According to a source in the said department, five villagers were killed.
The Secretary General of the Lake Chad Department, Sadick Khatir, reported that two people were slit their throats and three others shot and killed. The bodies were found on Saturday but no details are given on the actual date of the attack. But a prefectural source speaking anonymously states that it would take place on Saturday. The victims reportedly left the area under the protection of the armed forces, she added.
The Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram is active in the Lake Chad region and in several other hinterland countries including Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. In addition to the multinational force of the G5 Sahel, the Multinational Joint Force (MMF), a regional military coalition engaged around Lake Chad is also in the fighting. On several occasions, the presidents of this region have expressed the wish to coordinate their action in order to effectively combat the advance of armed groups in the Sahel.
