On Monday 10th November 2019, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo visited Benin for a work session with former head of state Nicéphore Dieudonné Soglo. Among the topics discussed, the former presidents did not hide the closure of the Nigerian borders.
The Nigerian borders closure for more than two months has been a concern for Nicéphore Soglo and Olusegun Obasanjo. In addressing the subject, they made suggestions to the heads of state of the countries concerned. They invite the leaders to courageously address the problems in order to find solutions.
Olusegun Obasanjo and Nicéphore Soglo have pledged to work to safeguard the “fraternal neighbourhood relations that unite the two countries to promote peace and cohesion”.
