American investors came to assess business opportunities in Benin. They had a working session on Tuesday, 12 November 2019 in Sèmè City with Romuald Wadagni, the national silversmith.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni held this Tuesday, 12 November 2019 in Sèmè City, a group of American investors. The exchanges focused on the opportunities offered by Benin. The national money laureate, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni, presented the various structural and economic reforms that make Benin an attractive country with an attractive business climate following economic reforms, courageous policies praised by international institutions. Moreover, he explained, Benin is a gateway to the countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Four American investors representing different groups are interested in sectors that promote innovative solutions, including maritime trade with a focus on emerging markets in Africa and Asia. At the end of the session, Marc Zeepvat of the Transnational Research Cooperation group suggested: “We are a group of investors who came to discuss with the Beninese authorities about investment risks and opportunities and to better understand the macroeconomic dynamics in Benin”.
“The meeting was very informative and we were well received. Our discussions also focused on the issue of border closures with Nigeria, Benin’s collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the actions of the Government Action Program (GAP). Our visit to Benin allows us to affirm that the prospects are very good and we are very optimistic,” he said.
