AFCON qualifiers 2021: Vahid Halilhodzic's Morocco take on Burundi's Swallows @Le matin.ma

The Atlas of Morocco Lions won 3-0 on Tuesday in Burundi as part of the second day of the AFCON Cameroon 2021 qualifiers.

Morocco are back in the spotlight after a disappointing draw in Rabat against Mauritania in their opening match. This afternoon in Bujumbura, Vahid Halilhodzic’s youngsters snatched their first qualifying win against the Swallows. Thanks to the achievements of Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, forward Youssef En-Nesyri and lateral Hachraf Hakimi of Dortmund, the Atlas Lions led the group before the Mauritania-Central African game.

This victory will certainly do good for players and fans disappointed by their team’s failed performance when they were beaten at the last AFCON by the Benin Squirrels in the quarter-finals. It will also give Franco-Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic a break from his difficult start with the royal selection.
